Yesterday evening saw a group of Magento enthusiasts, developers, designers, store owners and project managers meet at Campus North in Newcastle upon Tyne.
The first (and certainly not last!) Magento North East event saw two speakers share their knowledge of Magento with the audience around the topic of Introduction to Magento.
The talks: full of Magento goodness
As it was the first event, we wanted to ensure all attendees were up to speed on Magento, so the two speakers we organised were introductory talks: one a general introduction to Magento, and the second talk an introduction to Magento for web developers.
Our first talk, by our very own Richard Cripps, showcased what can be – and has been – done on the Magento platform (brands including Christian Louboutin and Nike use Magento Enterprise). After a detailed look at Magento’s functionality, Richard also discussed the benefits of Magento for web developers and designers, and their clients.
The second talk, by Richie McFarlane, introduced web developers who were unfamiliar with Magento in to likely pitfalls and introduced best concept practices.
The future of Magento North East
As founders of the first Magento user group in the North East of England, Peacock Carter were proud to establish the group and see Magento lovers in the North East connect, share and learn. Topics being considered for upcoming events include a Magento 2 update, and an introduction to building Magento modules.
Future Magento NE events will be announced in the coming weeks as we finalise speakers: you can follow along with new events on Meetup.com and via the @MagentoNE Twitter account.
